(Poetry) Cambria Kelley - Chiron’s Sonnet
Under the gaze of the moonlight, he wades
Into the water. His skin a deep blue
As he rests his head against the smooth waves.
“Black boys can change their hue, too.”
Juan once said. We sound and move like the wind,
Robbing the leaves off trees. We have tried
Living transparently. The rays dimmed
against the Moon’s embrace as Chiron cried,
Like the little boy he once was again.
Juan was long gone, alone and buried in
Ground. Chiron wished he was seven or ten
‘Cause Juan loved him more than he hated sin.
Somewhere in a memory made of stone,
A father waits for his son to come home.
